Further Information:
JMY 120N is the prototype 'Super National Business Commuter'. It is equipped with a seperate generator, toilet, fridge, bar, water supply, television, video, music system, intercom and many other gadgets. Tables are provided at the rear and there is lots of storage space throughout the vehicle. Over the years many of the original components have been removed or now cease to function, but they will be restored cosmetically by the current owner.
The history is a bit sketchy but we do know that the bus had five previous owners before Mike Bellinger, the current owner. History and known owners are as follows.
JMY 120N was new to National Travel (South East), a subsidiary of the National Bus Company (NBC), in June 1974. It was originally used as a demonstrator in 1974. Then two more owners, the UK Embassy of the USSR (Soviet Trade Delegation) which owned the bus in the early 1980's, followed by another unknown owner. It was then acquired by Pirelli Motor Sport, date unknown. It had been acquired from Pirelli by the Birmingham and Midland Museum of Transport (BaMMoT) at Wythall for preservation by November 1995. It was subsequently acquired for preservation by Mike Bellinger of Penge. The bus has now been repainted into original NBC 'Super National' livery. |
