Further Information: BPL 469T was new to London Country Bus Services Ltd (LCBS), a subsidiary of the National Bus Company (NBC), in May 1979, receiving fleet number SNB469 and painted in London Country NBC leaf green livery. It is fitted with a Leyland 510 engine and is a 10.3 metre, series B Leyland National and was therefore built without the characteristic roof mounted pod. Upon the split of LCBS in September 1986 the bus passed to London Country North West (LCNW) retaining its fleet number of SNB469. During October 1990 LCNW was acquired by Luton & District Transport (LDT) and it became SNB469 in the Luton & District fleet. The company was renamed 'The Shires' in April 1995. The bus was withdrawn from service by The Shires in August 1996 and subsequently sold to Barnfield College, Luton in November 1996. It was acquired by dealer, Thames Valley Bus Sales (Mike Nash) of Weybridge in November 1999. The bus was purchased from Thames Valley Bus Sales for preservation by Nick Doolan of Dunstable in February 2002 and is now kept at the Three Counties Bus and Commercial Vehicle Museum. The bus is currently still in as acquired London Country North West green and grey livery. |
